Website assessment #2
A national industry association
Introduction

This document is a collection of opinions and comments with respect to the client's existing website, www.acme.ca. More importantly, this is a set of recommendations for consideration to enhance the site's effectiveness for both the users and the client.

In addition to standard web-design and marketing principles, these recommendations also tie into the following client organizational goals:

  • Develop and enhance financial management capacity within the industry
  • Create awareness of, and build credibility for the professional designations
  • Obtain business and political support
  • Provide relevant products and services to members in a professional manner
  • Enhance the appeal of financial management as a career choice
  • Ensure users' visits to the ACME site is simple and logical, rather than daunting and complex

Part One: General Comments

Overall, the site is content-rich and functionality-sound (i.e. links work, pages load well, and there is some good use of forms, external files and menu-effects).

The key weaknesses lie in the area of clear writing - especially at the section intros - site structure and navigation, and general page layout.

A few minor but significant changes will certainly make the site more user-friendly and thus attract, retain and educate a greater number of users.

In addition, these modifications will enhance the professional image of both ACME and its professional credential designations.
