Part Seven: Individual Page Assessments (One excerpt only, just to demonstrate the depth of the assessment process)
Fiscal Planning.html
- Why is this page a separate site/URL, when it really should be be a sub page to Products & Services
- Excellent imagery: very vibrant and exciting!
- You have a decent description of 'what this is' in the one-paragraph overview on the index page, but this needs to be repeated inside this section (people may come here direct, and they may be confused - especially considering there isn't any information about who owns and runs the site). If this is merged into the main site, the About Us portion is no longer an issue
- The two links (Getting Started and Skip Introduction) don't seem to make sense until one makes the effort to figure out what they mean
- Getting Started takes you directly to a comprehensive overview of the program, but this should be a part of the intro page - with same-page/internal anchor links to the subsections
- Skip Introduction sounds like an option to 'skip' over a multimedia (or flash file), but it simply means, 'skip the Getting Started Section'; it doesn't seem useful at all
- Consider simply adding the main links (Monthly Planner; Fiscal Planning Cycles; Partner Profiles; Tools) right to the new intro page - in the artwork
- The three circle images on the intro page should link to the Planning, Budgetary and Accountability Cycles - and if possible, have rollovers to 'say' what they actually link to (they are not currently linked at all)
Conclusion
Overall, your site is very content-rich and it offers people a myriad of great resources. There's no doubt that with some basic modifications to the style of writing, page layout and navigation, users will find the site more valuable - and as a result, will share their positive thoughts with others.
